Filtered earplugs for riding. They take the wind roar down without sealing your ears shut, so you still hear your engine and the traffic around you.

Washable silicone. Five spare tip sizes and a hard case in the box.

Wind noise is the part that does the damage.

Loud enough to cost you your hearing

Wind noise around a helmet runs past 90 dB once you are at highway speed, and it climbs with the speedometer rather than with engine size, so a quiet bike is no protection. NIOSH puts the safe daily dose at 85 dB over eight hours and halves the time you get for every 3 dB on top of that, which a long run on the interstate spends well before you are home. What it takes does not grow back, and it adds up ride after ride.

Takes the roar, leaves the road

The filter brings the level down while leaving sounds recognizable, so the engine note, the horn behind you and the truck coming up on your left are all still there, quieter. A foam plug seals the ear instead, which muffles exactly the sounds you were using to place traffic. How much the filter takes off depends on getting a tip that seals, which is why five spare pairs come in the box.

Rinse them and ride again

Silicone, so they wash clean under a tap and go back in the case rather than heading for the bin after a ride or two. That matters more than it sounds: a plug you have to remember to restock is a plug you end up riding without.

They go back in the case

A hard case comes with them. Earplugs disappear into a jacket pocket, and a lost pair is a loud ride home.

Why not just use foam plugs?

What matters TUCK Foam plugs
Hearing traffic and your engine The filter lowers the volume and leaves the sound. Blocks everything by the same amount, sirens included.
Keeping them in for the whole ride You can still hear, so there is no reason to pull one out. Most riders take one out at a junction, and then it is doing nothing.
Using them again next ride Silicone. Rinse them and they go back in. Squashed and grubby after a ride or two.
Getting a seal that fits Five pairs of tips in the box, so you can size them. One size, rolled up and hoped for.
Keeping track of them Hard case included. Loose in a pocket.

The questions riders actually ask.

Is wind noise really loud enough to damage my hearing?

Yes, and it is the wind rather than the engine that gets you there. Measured around a helmet at highway speed it runs past 90 dB, and it rises with road speed, so a quiet bike and a loud one are closer together than they sound. NIOSH sets the safe daily dose at 85 dB over eight hours and halves the time allowed for every 3 dB above that, which puts a long ride past the limit before you have stopped for fuel. Noise damage is permanent, and it builds over a riding career rather than arriving in one ride.

Will I still hear traffic and my engine?

That is what the filter is for. It brings the whole level down rather than shutting the outside out, so the engine note and the horn behind you are still there, quieter. It is a reduction and not a mute button, and you should still expect to hear less than you would bare-eared.

Do they play music or take my calls?

No. There is no electronics in them at all. If you want audio under the helmet, that is the Tuck Buds.

Will they fit under a helmet?

They sit inside the ear canal and the outer part is 16 mm across, so there is nothing standing proud for the helmet lining to press on. Put them in before the helmet goes on.

What comes in the box?

One pair of earplugs, five spare pairs of tips, a storage case and the instructions.

Should’ve gotten these sooner

I wanted something comfortable enough to leave in for a full ride, but mainly something that would actually deal with the wind. These do both. The difference at higher speeds is night and day.

My ears feel way better after long rides

The wind used to be exhausting after an hour or two on the highway. These cut down that constant roar without making me feel completely disconnected from everything around me.

Works really well

Definitely cuts down the wind noise, especially on the highway.

Much quieter inside the helmet

I didn’t realize how much of my riding fatigue was coming from the wind noise. Tuck Plugs make the whole ride feel calmer, especially once you get up to highway speed.

Exactly what I needed

Cuts the wind roar like crazy.

Huge difference on the highway

The wind noise drops dramatically. Makes longer rides way more comfortable.
